I&amp;#39;m not by any means saying that he is the original source, but he is an early one and with the neoplatonist influence in Enneagram teachings quite important in the context. In _Phaedrus_ he talked people having three-part souls made up of rational, concupiscible and irascible parts. And in _The Republic_ he described his ideal society as being a macrocosm of the human soul, with a three-level hierarchy, each level being linked to a different part of the body: the head, chest and abdomen.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I agree with what you say about being able to improve your access to different centres.
